The Vatican has denied Italian media reports that the Pope is dead,
saying his heart is still functioning but that his condition has
worsened.

An Italian news agency reported that the Pope's heart monitor had gone
flat, but the Vatican denied this.

A spokesman earlier said the 84-year-old pontiff's breathing had
"become shallow", and that his heart and kidneys were failing.

Under ancient Vatican tradition, the pope is not "officially" dead until
his chamberlain whacks him on the head three times with a silver hammer,
asking the pope each time if he's awake.

They should have started doing it 20 years ago.

How incredibly dark ages of them, to keep such a technologically up to date
method of determining if a person is dead in practice. But, considering the
source, I don't suppose that this any more ridiculous, than any of the other
sick depraved dark age practices this group finds so necessary.

The whole cannibalism thing, is just such a big draw for me, you know.

The chamberlain's name wouldn't happen to be Maxwell,
would it? If so, he doctored the books.

It seems I read somewhere that the lyrics of that song were in part inspired by
the death of Pope Old Guy in 1963.

Yes, it's clear that God will call him home very, very shortly - possibly this
day or tomorrow.

And then he will spend all eternity sharing in the love and glory of almighty
God. How wonderful.

Well, if he did make it, he would be the first Pope to do so.

As far as I can see this is a man at the head of a massively rich
organisation that purports to identify with the poor, an organisation that
encourages homophobia, while condoning paedophilia; that comforts and
sometimes supports terrorists, that sets back the emancipation of women and
condemns millions to poverty through its attitude to birth control - and
that historically has looked the other way whilst genocide has been commited
under its nose.

Of course its sad when someone gets old and dies...... but why am I supposed
to be sad or sympathetic towards this representative of such an
organisation?
